Hopi & Navajo youth stand by Peabody Coal Mine
An environmental and cultural tragedy is occurring on Hopi and Navajo reservations in norteastern Arizona. For over 30 years, Peabody Coal Company has annually pumped 1.3 billion gallions of pure drinking water from the Navajo Aquifer beneath Black Mesa. Blac Mesa Trust is a grassroots, nonprofit organization founded by traditional Hopi farmers and elders to save their aquifer for future generations of Hopi and Navao children.

This film, directed, shot and edited by Victor Masayesva, Jr., and produced by Black Mesa Trust, documents 26 Hopi runners' 2000-mile trek from the Hopi mesas to Mexico City to carry a message of water to the 2006 World Water Forum.
